π What’s EVILLE about?/Where did the name come from? What brought on the name change from your previous set up as Warning Signal?
My name is Eva & we were trying to figure out what would work around my name. “Evil” came out but there are so many people & bands called “Evil” that we added some more L’s & E’s to make it work haha.
We’ve been called Warning Signal since I was 14 so we thought it was due to a change. I think it suits our much heavier sound now too.
π You’re a Brighton-based band. How did you set up?
Milo answered an ad I put up looking for a drummer & I messaged Jude on Instagram as I had seen them play bass for other punk bands in the area. We are now the perfect power trio hehe.
π You describe yourself as βBrighton Brat Metalβ. What scene do you feel the most related to?
Brat Metal is a mixture of cute/bratty vocals with heavy crushing riffs. Think Gwen Stefani if she fronted Slipknot.
I wouldn’t say we particularly fit a scene but we are definitely quite heavy so we edge more towards the Nu-Gen scene. Bands like Cassyette/Wargasm.

π You released your first single βNightmareβ back in March. Seems like your dark pop metal song worked really well!
Tell us about your latest release. What’s the feeling of it/what’s it about?
Thanks, the response for “Nightmare” this year has been amazing.
We are currently working on a new song called “Messy”. We’ve taken a step back to work harder on this track as we really think this is what’s going to define our sound. Just be prepared for crushing riffs & cute vocals π
π What inspires you to play music?
My dad has always played in bands so I guess that’s where it all started.
I think it’s when we are at a festival though, watching big bands & the feeling we get watching them. Can only imagine how that feels & we want to experience that.

π Whatβs your writing process?
I sit at home & write songs with my guitar & then sit in Milos garage & just work it all out with him on drums. Then we meet up with Jude & just mould it all out as a 3.
π Who are your main influences in music/life?
I’ve always loved nu-metal & 90/00’s music. I grew up on Avril, Paramore & Gwen which is where I get my singing style from. But I also love Nu-metal. If you mash Gwen Stefani with Slipknot/Korn & Deftones thatβs a pretty accurate idea of where I get my guitar riffs from. Drop-tuned & heavy.

π Tell us about your aesthetic.
We all bring in different aesthetics but Eville as a whole is very much taking a lot of influence from the 90s Nu-metal/Punk scene. Jude also loves their 80’s hardcore punk & wears Black Flag T-shirts all the time :p
π When you’re not doing band stuff what do you get up to?
It’s not very often we’re not doing music really. Jude has a couple of bands on the go & Milo works at a Pizza Place. I like to write music mainly & hang out with my friends.
π What 1 thing could everyone be doing to make the scene a better place?
Just respect your surroundings & work to keep it a safe environment for anyone. Also try & offer help at your local shows when you can, sitting at the door or making food etc.
